June 15th, Houston, TX – Chinese Permitting Authority & Petrochemical Industry Delegation Visit American Ethane Company in Houston:
The Delegation of the Green Development of China Petrochemical Industry led by China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association (CPCIA) and
National Development and Reform Committee (NDRC) visited American Ethane in Houston on June 6, 2018 with Nanshan Group and Ganergy Heavy Industry, two Chinese companies who have signed supply contracts with American Ethane. Eversun Holdings Group who also contracted to American Ethane joined the delegation as well.
The 26 members of the delegation consisted of leaders from CPCIA and NDRC, leading petrochemical planning and designing firms, such as China National Petroleum & Chemical Planning Institute, China National Chemical Economic and Technical Development Centre.
American Ethane Company hosted the delegation in their office in Houston, TX where CEO John Houghtaling II, and Jim Collingsworth, Board Member of American Ethane and Martin Midstream, gave overview presentation of Company’s development milestones to-date and the strategy on supply of ethane to China.
Also presenting aspects of the project were James Brookshire, CEO of S&B Engineers and Constructors and Rik Klavers, VP of KBR. Rusty Braziel, CEO of RBN Energy gave an independent outlook of the US ethane oversupply through year 2023. A special speaker, Alan Turley, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for China in US Department of Commerce, greeted the Delegation by conference call from Washington, DC and expressed support for the project in favor of US-China trade relationships and export of ethane from USA to China. Turley, with Secretary Wilbur Ross, led the US/ China Trade Summit in November 2017 and just returned from trade Negotiations in Beijing.
During the visit to American Ethane, the Delegation from China was welcomed by representatives of Congressman Brian Babin, Congressman Randy Webber as well as Mrs. Hongmei, Deputy General Counsel of China in Houston.
“American Ethane was honored to receive the delegation and continue what has been a multi-year coordination with the Chinese government and leading companies in China to bring the reality of a long term supply of Ethane to China to support the new Ethane-to-Ethylene industry in China. We echo the sentiments expressed by Mr. Turley. The realization of our project, that was so prominently supported by President Trump and President Xi at the Trade Summit last November, provides a foundation for the reduction of the US/China trade deficit and a new and prosperous relationship between our two countries” – said John Houghtaling, CEO
